‘Ahyah Asher Ahyah’ or ‘Yahuah’ or ‘Yahweh’, which is the name of the Creator?

Recently there are those that would have us believe the name of The Creator is not Yahuah/Yahweh but rather אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה, ‘Ahya Asher Ahyah’. What they do not tell us, is the grammatical issues with Hebrew vs. English and the tenses used. Actually Yahuah said both ‘AHYH’ and ‘YHVH’. In Exodus 3:14 Yahuah used ‘Ahyah Asher Ahyah’ because He was speaking in 1rst person imperfect tense of Himself. That phrase can only be used by Yahuah as it is in the 1rst person tense. Then in the very next verse 15 when answering Moses question as to what Moses was to say to Israel, He use the 3rd person ‘YHVH’.

Below is how the English Bibles translate it:

Exodus 3 13

“But,” said Moses to Yahuah, “if I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The Elohim of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ what do I tell them?” 14 Yahuah replied to Moses: I am who I am (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה) Then he added: This is what you will tell the Israelites: I AM ( אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה) has sent me to you. 15 And Elohim said Again to Mosheh, Thus you will say to the sons of Israel, Yahuah ( יְהוָ֞ה) Elohim of your fathers.

Exodus 3:14-15

So in verse 14 it is Ahya (אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה) and then in 15 it is Yahuah/Yahweh (יְהוָ֞ה). So why the two names and which one is the right one for us to say? The confusion comes in when we attempt to understand the Hebrew language and translate into English. The verb ‘Hayah’ (which both AHYA and YHVH are derrived) means "existed" in Hebrew; ‘Ahya’ is the first person singular imperfect form and is usually translated in English Bibles as "I am" or "I will be" (or "I shall be"), for example, at Exodus 3:14. ‘Ahyah asher AhyAh’ literally translates as "I Am Who I Am." The ancient Hebrew of Exodus 3:14 lacks a future tense as modern English does, yet a few translations render this name as "I Will Be What I Will Be", given the context of Yahuah promising to be with his people through their future troubles (if they obey His commandments).

In appearance, it is possible to render YHWH (יהוה) as an archaic third person singular imperfect form of the verb ahyah (אהיה) "to be" meaning, therefore, "He is" as we would be speaking to or of Him instead of “I am” which is how He speaks of Himself.

If we say ‘Ahyah’ then we are using the first person tense and declaring WE are the “I am”. In doing so, we blaspheme His Name and disobey His instruction to use the 3rd person tense when addressing him... ‘YHVH’ or Yahuah/Yahweh.

It is notably distinct from the root El, which is a title not a name and can be used as a simple noun to refer to the creators deity in general, as in Elohim, meaning simply "God" (or gods). This interpretation agrees with the meaning of the name given in Exodus 3:14, where God is represented as speaking, and hence as using the first person — AahYah "I am". Other scholars regard the triconsonantal root of hawah (הוה) ‘to become’ as a more likely origin for the name Yahweh/Yahuah.

In verse 14, Yahuah is speaking of Himself in the first person! Given the way Moses would be speaking of Yahuah (not in the first person) we use YHVH (Yahuah in Paleo, Yahweh in Aramaic). Only Yahuah can refer to Himself in the first person in Hebrew like He did in verse 14 AHYH. So from that point forward, Moses refered to The Creator in the 2nd or 3rd person perfect tense as YHVH.

So in verse 15 the Creator gives His name again, but this time its different (יְהוָ֞ה) YHWH. The two names YHWH and AHYH are related to one another. Again here is the verb היה Hayah and now here is the Hebrew verb Hawah הוה. It is identical in meaning and usage Lets look at the word Hawah הוה Hawh – 1st person is eh-hawh “I exist”, or “I am” – 2nd person is th-hawh “you exist” or ” you are” – 3rd person is Y-hawh ” he exist” or “he is. ” So in short, when Yahuah is speaking He and ONLY He can use the first person AHYH. Everyone else must address Him in the 3rd person YHVH.

So basically Yahuah said “I will be what I will be” and you, Moses, should tell everyone else and say “He will be, what He will be” sent you.

So what I would say to all those who address Yahuah as AHYH or Ahyah Asher Ahyah... you are addressing the Creator in first person as if YOU are The Creator... and blaspheming His name in the process. One more thing... the name Ahya Asher Ayhay is closely associated with Jewish Mysticism and Caballah... that should tell us a lot about the usage as that entire doctrine is how to manipulate Yahuah into doing your own will. It is "magic" and this is where those who are now pushing that name got it from....
