What are the fires of “Hell” or Lake of Fire

Do those who are not chosen “sizzle in an eternal frying pan” literally?  What are the fires of hell or lake of fire?  Let us put some perspective on this topic and let scripture define scripture.  Let us build sound doctrine precept upon precept and clearly define this consuming fire and exactly what that fire consumes. 

Fire is a physical metaphor of The Law of Yahuah.  The Word of Yahuah is the all consuming fire…

Jeremiah 23:29

"Is not my word like fire," declares Yahuah”

Jeremiah 5:14

Therefore, thus says Yahuah, the God of hosts, "Because you have spoken this word, Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire And this people wood, and it will consume them. 

Hebrews 12:29

for our "God is a consuming fire."

Exodus 24:17

The sight of the glory of Yahuah (giving His Law to Moses) was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 4:24

For Yahuah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Deuteronomy 9:3

Therefore understand today that Yahuah your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as Yahuah has said to you.

So the “lake of fire” is actually The Word of Yahuah by which the “works” of everyone’s life will be judged by metaphorical FIRE:

Romans 2:12

"For as many as have sinned outside The Law shall also perish outside the law: and as many as have sinned who have The Law shall be judged by the law"

1 Corinthians 3

13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because their works will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

The Greeks did not understand the Word of Yahuah as it is foolishness to them.  They then twisted His Word and Hellenized it.  That is where these false doctrines and misunderstanding of the physical to spiritual parallels.  The Word of Yahuah was veiled to everyone but those so chosen by Yahuah to understand it.
