1
Now are you ignorant, brothers (for I speak to the House of Judah who
know the Law), that the Law has authority over a man as long as he
lives? 2 For the woman who has a living husband has been
bound by the Law to her husband; but if her husband dies, she is
released from the Law that binds her to her husband. 3 So
then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she
will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is released
from that Law, and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another
man.
4
In the same way, my brothers, through the Yahushaic Covenant, you were
buried by Mikveh into the keeping the Intent of the Law, that you might
belong to a different one, to him who was raised from the dead, that you
might bear fruit to Yahuah! 5 For when we were in the flesh;
our mere physical lives, the longing to transgress the Law which is to
be kept, did constantly work in our members, that we might bear fruit
unto death. 6 But we are now freed from the death decrees of
the Law in which we were held fast (slavery to
the fear of death);
Hebrews 2:14-15
14
so that by his death he, Yahusha, might break the power of him who
holds the power of death—that is, the devil — 15 and free those who
all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death (not
in slavery to the Law as Christianity teaches)
that we might
serve in the newness of the Spirit of Life (loving
obedience to the intent of The Law written on our hearts Ezekiel 36: 26,
27, Jeremiah 31:31-34),
Ezekiel 36: 26, 27
I will give you a new heart (for my Law and write my Law on it) and put a new spirit (of loving obedience) in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone (legalistic observance of the Law without love) and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my
decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Jeremiah 31:31-34
31 “Behold, days are coming,” declares Yahuah, “when I
will make a new covenant with The
House of Israel and
with The House of Judah, 32 not
like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took
them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My
covenant which they broke (The Mosaic
Covenant),
although I was a husband to them,” declares Yahuah. 33 “But
this is the (new
marriage)
covenant which I will make with The
House of Israel after
those days,” declares Yahuah, “I will put My law (marriage
vows) within them and on their
heart, I will write it; and
I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 They
will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his
brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ for they will all know Me, from the
least of them to the greatest of them,” declares Yahuah, “for
I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
(see
Zachariah 3)
not abolishing
that which was written in the Law and the Prophets. 7 What?
Can anyone therefore say that the Law is sin? No! By no means! But to
the contrary, I did not know sin; transgression of the Law, except
through the Law, for I did not know lust, unless the Law had said: Do
not covet. 8 But sin, taking opportunity through the
commandments, pointed out in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart
from the Law, sin is dead (there is lawlessness).
9 For once I was alive apart from the Law (not
realizing the penatly of sin is death); but when the commandments
came, sin came to life and I died (realizing
sin leads to death). 10 And I found the very
commandments that were intended to bring life for obedience, actually
brought death (because all have sinned and
fallen short). 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity
afforded by the commandments, deceived me, and by it (the
death decrees) killed me. 12 Therefore the Law is
holy, and the commandments are holy, and just, and righteous (leading
to repentance and forgiveness).
13
Did that which is righteous, then, become death to me? By no means! But
in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me
through the death decrees in the Righteous Law, so that through the
commandments, sin might become utterly sinful (and
I would be convicted and repent). 14 For we know that
the Law is spiritually appraised;
1 Corinthians 2
13 And this is what we speak, not in
words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit,
expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words (Physical
to Spiritual Parallels, Idioms, Parables, Figures of Speech, etc.). But
a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for
they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because
they are spiritually appraised. 15
The spiritual man judges all things (by
the Spiritual Intent of The Law), but he himself is not
subject to anyone’s judgment.…
but I was carnal,
sold into the power of sin. 15 For what I would have done,
that I did not do; but what I hated, that is what I did. 16
And if I did what I did not want to do, I agreed that the Law is
righteous (by pointing out my sin).
17 As it was, it was no longer I myself who did it, but it
was sin living in me (in my flesh
SARKI).
g4561 ‘sarki’ flesh - Thayer:
2a) the body of a man 2b) used of natural or physical origin,
generation, or relationship 2b1) born of natural generation 4) the
flesh, denotes mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart
from divine influence, and therefore prone to sin and opposed to
God.
18
For I know that nothing righteous dwelt within me, that is, in my flesh.
For I had the will to do what was right, but I did not carry it out.
19 For the righteousness that I wanted to do, I did not do;
but the evil which I did not want to do, that I did. 20 Now
if I did what I did not want to do, it was no longer I who did it, but
it was sin living in my flesh
that did it. 21 So I found this principle at work:
That evil was present with me--the very one who wanted to do
righteousness: 22 For I delight in the Law of Yahuah
according to the inward man; 23 But I saw another principle
at work in the members of my body, waging war against the Law in my
mind, and bringing me into captivity of the law of sin and death, which
is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I was! Who will
deliver me from the body of death? 25 Thanks be to Yahuah, I
have deliverance through Yahusha the Messiah our King! So then, with
this same mind, I myself serve the Law of Yahuah, while in the flesh
that is yet subject to the law of sin and death.
